Are you a compassionate clinician who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families?
D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s is seeking a Therapist to join our Family Preservation Services team. In this role, you'll provide comprehensive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive mental health services to children, youth, and families in the environments where they live, learn, and receive support.
Whether you're working in a school, family home, clinic, or community setting, you'll help children and families build resilience, navigate challenges, and create lasting positive change.

- Deliver trauma-informed and culturally responsive mental health services
- Conduct assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions
- Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy
- Conduct intake assessments and ongoing clinical evaluations
- Provide crisis intervention while prioritizing safety and stability
- Select therapeutic approaches based on each child's and family's strengths, needs, identities, and circumstances
- Engage families as active partners through education, coaching, and strengths-based support
Services may be provided in:
- Homes
- Schools
- Clinics
- Community settings
- Court or other external settings, depending on program assignment
This flexibility allows you to meet children and families in environments where they are most comfortable and where treatment can have the greatest impact.
Collaborate & Coordinate Care- Work closely with caregivers, educators, childcare providers, and community partners
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams, case meetings, and agency activities
- Coordinate services across school, home, and community systems
- Advocate for resources and help reduce barriers to care
- Build strong partnerships that support positive outcomes for children and families
- Participate in clinical supervision and team meetings
- Complete required training and professional development
- Stay current with agency practices, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to agency initiatives, committees, and cross-functional projects
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
Depending on your program assignment, you may have the opportunity to specialize in one or more areas:
School-Based Mental HealthSupport students within their school environment by:
- Providing school-based mental health services
- Collaborating with school leadership and support teams
- Helping reduce barriers to learning and student success
- Maintaining communication with parents and guardians
- Coordinating support across school, home, and community systems
Provide a diverse range of clinical and community-based services, potentially including:
- Outpatient therapy
- Home-based intervention
- Clinical case management
- Enhanced Foster Care support
- Court and school-related collaboration
- Community-based services
- Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation for client crises
For clinicians interested in early childhood mental health, this work may include:
- Infant and early childhood mental health services
- Caregiver-child attachment support
- Parent-child psychotherapy
- Relationship-based and play-based interventions
- Developmental screening and assessment
- Consultation with childcare providers
- Reflective supervision focused on early childhood and attachment
Clinicians in this area will have the opportunity to pursue or maintain Infant Mental Health (IMH) endorsement . Candidates may begin on an IMH Waiver while working toward a Level II MI-AIMH Endorsement.
What We're Looking ForMinimum Qualifications- Master's degree in Social Work or a related field
- Licensed to practice therapy in Michigan or actively working toward licensure
- Strong understanding of common diagnoses and treatment approaches for children
- Ability to provide effective individual, family, and/or group therapy
- Knowledge of community resources and support systems for children and families
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, adequate insurance, and reliable access to a vehicle
- Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Knowledge of early childhood development
- Experience with foster or adoptive children and families
- Experience providing community-based or family-centered services
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and relationship-based treatment approaches
