Road Service TechnicianLocation: Various locations in IL Industry: Waste & Recycling Equipment / Heavy EquipmentAbout the OpportunityWe are seeking a skilled Road Service Technician to join a growing service team supporting waste and recycling equipment customers. This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys working independently, troubleshooting equipment in the field, and providing exceptional customer service.You'll travel to customer locations to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain refuse collection equipment, compactors, balers, roll-off hoists, hook lifts, and related hydraulic systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections.Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools and service manuals.Repair compactors, balers, roll-off systems, hook lifts, and refuse truck equipment.Complete warranty repairs and detailed service documentation.Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status with customers.Maintain company service vehicle, tools, and inventory.Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and OSHA standards.Participate in after-hours or emergency service calls as needed.Qualifications3+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment, refuse trucks, vocational trucks, or hydraulic equipment.Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical manuals.Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus.CDL or willingness to obtain one is preferred.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.Preferred Equipment ExperienceFront Load Refuse TrucksRear Load Refuse TrucksAutomated Side Load TrucksRoll-Off TrucksHook Lift SystemsCompactorsBalersHydraulic CranesRecycling EquipmentCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay plus overtimeCompany service truckHealth, Dental & Vision Insurance401(k) with company matchPaid Time Off & HolidaysCompany-paid training and manufacturer certificationsUniforms and tool allowance (where applicable)Career advancement opportunitiesApply TodayIf you're an experienced heavy equipment or refuse equipment technician looking for a stable company with excellent benefits and opportunities for growth, we'd love to hear from you.All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
