About the Position

Job Title: Bone Marrow Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Bone Marrow Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ONS Chemo Certification Must-Have: Oncology experience. Chemotherapy certification. Description: Must have oncology experience and chemotherapy certification. The unit has a total of 40 beds, with 20 beds on each floor. Patient ratios are estimated, generally depending on staffing ability. Target ratios are 1:3, with a stretch of 1:4. Unit staffing includes unit secretaries and patient care technicians. Documentation system used is Meditech. Scheduling requires rotating weekends. Travelers float first. Patient experience requirements include bedside shift reports and safety rounds. Advanced skills needed include excellent assessment abilities. Competency in reading telemetry and monitoring simple titration of drips is preferred. Chemotherapy administration skills are required. Infrequent procedures performed on the unit include bone marrow biopsies. The unit promotes a welcoming environment for floats and contract employees. Teamwork is emphasized among the staff. There are opportunities to work with advanced therapies and a variety of patient populations. The unit has received multiple accreditations for excellence in care. Current technology and equipment aim to support patient safety and enhance the care experience.
