School Psychologist

Click link below Accountable for assessing students in order to determine eligibility for education services or continuing need for education services. To ensure that proper procedures, methods and timelines are followed in accordance with federal laws, Illinois statutes and other guidelines to enable students to gain the fullest benefit from their elementary and junior high school experiences. QUALIFICATIONS Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement as a School Psychologist at the elementary level. Master's Degree in Social Psychology from an accredited program Knowledge and practices as it relates to supporting (all) student's needs. REPORTS TO Designated administrator. SUPERVISES Students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Knowledge about the District's RTI process and familiarity with a system of tiered academic and behavioral interventions; Knowledge of assessment tools for intelligence and achievement testing, behavioral assessment scales, as well as objective personality tests, other psychometric tools; Knowledge of standardized test administration and interpretation procedures; Knowledge of various disabled populations such as Emotional/Behavioral Disorder (E/BD), Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD), Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (AS) and Other Health Disabilities (OHD); Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations regarding education and other related serves, especially regarding special education and eligibility criteria; Knowledge of child development and related needs and characteristics of children of disabilities; Knowledge of interventions for students with academic and behavioral concerns; Knowledge of psychological and education assessment practices and techniques; General knowledge of current research and evidence-based practices in school psychology; General understanding of statistics and quantitative analysis; Skill in test administration procedures, interpretation and presentation of test results; Skill in report writing, usually following protocols and templates; Skill in oral communication skills for presenting to parents and team members; Skill in mediation; Skill in psychological assessment, psychological interpretation and counseling, in order to determine the individual needs of students with disabilities; Skill in conducting effective individual and group counseling; Skill in identifying different disability populations; Interpersonal skills; Oral and written communication skills; Skill in using Google, Word, Excel and summary test report software applications; Ability to observe, collect data, develop, write and implement individual or class behavioral intervention plans; Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Illinois State Board of Education Rules and Regulations and the Response to Instruction (RTI) process by conducting individual psychological evaluations. Professional discretion shall dictate the nature and extent of the evaluative procedures employed in conducting individual child studies. Interprets student evaluations to professional staff, parents and other team members and assists in developing plans for implementation. Interprets all individual child studies to the parents or guardians and supports them with implementation of academic and behavioral strategies that can be used to benefit students at home and school. Assumes responsibility, when qualified, for the professional supervision of school psychologist interns. Participates in the screening and evaluation of educational planning for preschool and school-age children, and uses data for educational planning and service delivery. Acts as a liaison between the school district and community agencies to ensure integrated programming for students. Provides counseling and consultative services to staff personnel, students and families as warranted. Assists the building principal in ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations related to special education and pupil personnel services. May conduct, supervise or interpret research related to educational issues. May assist in the selection, interpretation and use of group tests using a variety of assessment instruments including achievement, cognitive, social/emotional, adaptive, progress monitoring, benchmarking, etc. May conduct inservice and/or parent and staff professional development activities and educational programs. Maintains records on referred students and collects, maintains and disseminates these records according to local, state and federal policies. Maintains high ethical professional standards in accord with guidelines published and promulgated by ISPA, NASP and APA. Seeks to upgrade and update professional competencies through appropriate study and attendance at seminars, symposia, conventions, etc., which are pertinent to the field. Leads and facilitates problem-solving meetings within the RTI framework. Consults with teachers and other staff for academic and positive behavioral support. Participates in Data Days and facilitates meetings, when requested. Enter benchmarking student data into progress monitoring system. Interpret progress monitoring data to make data-based decision during Progress Review Meetings. Participate as a team member in writing 504 plans, as needed; Perform related duties as assigned. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT As designated by the School District's Official Calendar for the school year. Salary and conditions established by the Board of Education. EVALUATION Performance evaluation will occur in accordance with District 44 evaluation process and procedures.
