Yard Driver & Forklift Operator

Yard Driver

A Yard Driver is responsible for pulling containers into dock doors to be unloaded and then out of dock doors to park in the yard. A Forklift Driver the loading, unloading, and moving of palletized loads throughout the warehouse. Primary duties for this role are moving containers in the yard, performing local deliveries as needed, loading/unloading trucks, performing consolidation, performing down stacks, and picking orders. Approximately 80% of this role will be in the warehouse, on a forklift.

Key Responsibilities

• Move containers in and out of dock doors at the direction of inbound management
• Performing local deliveries and transfers
• Loading and unloading materials from a variety of vehicles
• Moving pallet-packed materials around the warehouse or storage facility
• Checking loads are secure
• Picking transfer and/or customer orders
• Consolidating palletized products throughout the warehouse
• Performing equipment checks and basic maintenance
• Following written instructions and keeping records
• Adhering to health and safety regulations
• Completing physical tasks quickly and accurately.
• Other duties as needed per the direction of your manager.

Qualifications

• Clean and safe driving record.
• Experience moving trailers and/or containers with a yard truck and/or tractor.
• Ability to use a barcode scanner.
• Knowledge of industry safety regulations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for long hours.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, squat, stand, kneel, and bend without assistance.
• Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively.
• Must be able to safely and effectively pass forklift training and certification.

Expected Background

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL-A preferred but not mandatory.
