When you join Midwest Transit, you become part of a team that keeps communities moving and makes a real impact every day.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesServicing of gasoline and diesel powered buses from basic maintenance and minor repairs to full vehicle service. This is a safety-sensitive position. Employees holding this position are responsible for the safe performance of the job duties.Diagnose mechanical defects and carries out a preventive maintenance programMajor overhaul of engines and transmissionsService and maintain brakes, air compressors, fuel systems, ignitions, HVAC systems and Wheelchair liftsService and maintain vehicle air conditioning unitsInspects and repairs school buses per DOT requirementsKeep records of time and materials usedUtilize and working knowledge of all Manufacturing Partners Diagnostic Software and Portals; ex NavistarWorking knowledge of all products serviced by Company including but not limited to Navistar IC Bus and supplier productsEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements4+ years Medium duty bus experience, International Truck/Bus preferred100% certification for all Manufacturer training requirements including but not limited to Cummins, Navistar, and BraunMust have own set of toolsKnowledge of the provisions of codes and laws relating to pupil transportation (i.e. DOT inspections)CDL class B License with air brake endorsementA/C CertificationExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customersMust be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer serviceAbility to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion in a timely mannerStrong organizational skills and attention to detailBenefitsCompetitive PayMedical InsuranceDental and VisionCompany paid for Short & Long Term Disability and Life Insurance401(k) with a dollar for dollar company match up to 4%Holiday Pay for 10 holidaysPTO PayCareer GrowthMidwest Transit Equipment is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
