Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Advanced assessment and critical thinking skills - Management of vasoactive drips Description: Unit has 36 beds with patient ratios of 1:3 in the AM and 1:4 in the PM or 1:4 AM and 1:5 PM when patient care techs are available. Typically, total RN-based care with no techs. Secretaries are scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM in the PCU for various resources. Type of equipment includes BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo Feeding Pumps. Documentation system used is Meditech. Full-time staff work 36 hours per week with every third weekend rotation. Part-time staff work 48 hours per week with every third weekend rotation. PRN staff are required to work either 3 or 6 shifts in a 4-week period, with weekend shift requirements. Rotating holiday schedule is in place. Floating policy requires PRN staff to float 1 time per week, while full-time and part-time staff float in rotation based on dates. Bonus shifts always float first. Patient experience requirements include bedside shift report, hourly rounding, and daily leadership rounds. Unit is a Level 2 trauma center with Stroke Accreditation, STEMI Accreditation, and is a Certified Bariatric Center. Typical procedures performed on the unit include Central Line or PICC line placement. Best personality fit is someone with a positive attitude and a desire to work as a member of a team. Dress code requires charcoal grey scrub tops with charcoal grey or black scrub bottoms, along with an option for unit-specific jackets. Unit standards of care and policies are attached for review. The unit received an Honorable Mention as Unit of Distinction in 2018. Additional information includes being a Designated Education Unit with new cardiac monitors that allow visual monitoring of cardiac rhythm in each room.
