Position Description Flagstaff Academy seeks a school counselor for the 2026-27 school year. The candidate will provide holistic counseling services to K-5th grade students to enhance personal/social, academic, and career success. Roles include crisis intervention, short-term counseling, group counseling, 504 plan coordination, consultation with teachers and parents, participation in our MTSS (formerly RtI) process, behavior interventions, academic planning and support, and transition planning. The candidate will work closely with the elementary school assistant principal and the mental health team to enhance a comprehensive school counseling program to meet the needs of K-8 school. Collection and reporting of data, parent collaboration, district meetings are also expected. Specifically, we seek an educator with: Excellent communication skills Strong skills working with families and community partners Master's Degree in school counseling Experience working with 504 plans and students with disabilities Ability to maintain high ethical and legal standards in a school setting Knowledge of the ASCA National Model Willingness to work in a comprehensive counseling program Elementary School experience preferred Familiarity with Infinite Campus preferred Charter school experience preferred The candidate’s pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction with a particular focus on the teaching through investigation and inquiry. Job Skills and Qualifications: Current Colorado school counselor license Ability to interpret and communicate student data Strong systems orientation and commitment to follow-through Experience working with elementary students About Flagstaff Academy Charter School Located in Longmont, Flagstaff Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades kindergarten through eighth. Our school also offers a tuition-based full- and part-time preschool program for three to five year olds. Since its founding in 2005, Flagstaff Academy has grown into Longmont’s premier science and technology school. PERA Retirement - In lieu of Social Security, public employees in the state of Colorado contribute to a tax-deferred retirement account that is administered by Colorado PERA. Employees contribute 11% of monthly earnings while Flagstaff Academy contributes 21.4% to the PERA pension trust fund on the employee’s behalf. Life/AD&D insurance - Flagstaff Academy provides a Life/AD&D insurance policy with a $40,000 benefit for each eligible employee. Short Term Disability - Flagstaff Academy provides a Short Term Disability policy for each eligible employee. Paid Time Off - Employees are granted PTO based on years of service and number of contract days. Part-time employees are granted PTO prorated at the percentage of a 40-hour week. Free Childcare - Staff can access childcare before/after school, as well as during all professional development days, through our Dragon Flight program.
