Structural Welder

Job Description

Job Description

Why Mid-States

Mid-States Companies fabricates, assembles, and constructs equipment for grain handling, food processing, renewable energy, commercial building, and heavy industrial projects nationwide. We're growing fast, and we run on three things: ownership of your work and its quality, tenacity to solve problems and hit deadlines, and stewardship of our people, equipment, and reputation. If that sounds like how you operate and thrive, you'll fit right in.

We offer to pay 100% of your health, dental, and vision insurance premiums — not a contribution toward it, the whole thing. That's paired with 401(k) match, profit sharing, a boot & clothing allowance, and paid parental leave, because we believe taking care of our people is how we build a team that lasts.

What You'll Do

You'll fit, layout, weld, and fabricate structural and miscellaneous steel from shop drawings and instructions, working to Mid-States WPS standards and AWS D1.1 code. This is a hands-on role (about 90% welding/fitting, 5% quality documentation) on a team that values safety, organization, and craftsmanship.

Day to day, you'll:

• Fit and weld structural and miscellaneous steel
• Read shop drawings and welding symbols, and apply shop math (fractions, decimals, geometry)
• Operate overhead cranes and maintain your tools/equipment
• Complete quality checks and required documentation
• Help drive continuous improvement in shop workflow — we want your input, not just your output
• Conduct routine equipment inspections (crane, rigging, hoists)

What You Bring

• 5+ years of fabrication/welding experience preferred
• Strong GMAW skills in all positions
• Solid structural layout and fitting background
• Comfort reading drawings, measuring tools, and welding symbols
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 standards
• A detail-oriented, safety-first mindset and the tenacity to work through tough problems
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, torches, and plasma cutters

Benefits

• 100% company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance
• 401(k) with company match
• Profit sharing
• Boot & clothing allowance
• Paid parental leave
• Paid time off
• Life insurance, HSA available
• Real advancement opportunity in a fast-growing, employee-focused company

We've built this company without ever needing a layoff — and we plan to keep it that way. As we grow, we want our people growing with us: taking on new skills, more responsibility, and building a career here rather than just working a job. If you're looking for a team that will invest in you for the long haul, we'd love to talk.
