Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 18 months to 2 years of ICU RN experience License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Stroke experience and NIH assessments - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Experience with critical care drips, chest tubes, PIV starts - Teamwork orientation and communication skills - Ability to manage medication drips, including titration Description: We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The unit has 10 ICU beds and 4 PCU beds, with an average census of 7.3 patients per day. Patient types include sepsis, COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, stroke, and respiratory illnesses. Patient ratios range from 1:2 to 1:3, depending on acuity. CNA support is not available overnight. Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments, administering medications, and managing critical care equipment. Familiarity with ventilator management, trach care, and various tube management and placement is essential. You will collaborate with a team including house supervisors and intensivists, as well as utilize tele monitoring technology. All nurses will float to different units as needed, adhering to scope of practice. Weekend rotation and holiday work are expected, with RTO requiring managerial approval. The unit culture prioritizes teamwork and communication. Candidates must be open to constructive feedback.
