Survey Party Chief - Heavy Civil Construction

We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to join our civil construction team. This role is responsible for leading field survey operations, performing construction layout and control surveys, collecting and documenting survey data, and ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency on project sites. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with construction surveying, GPS and total station equipment, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering accurate field data in a fast-paced construction environment. Key Responsibilities Lead field survey crews and oversee daily survey operations on construction projects. Perform topographic surveys, construction layout, horizontal and vertical control surveys, and field control establishment. Operate and utilize GPS, total stations, data collectors, and related survey equipment. Calculate and verify survey measurements, traverse closures, level runs, adjustments, and control points. Record and maintain accurate field notes, sketches, drawings, and survey documentation. Submit benchmark runs and survey data in a timely manner. Coordinate with project teams and survey management regarding project locations, schedules, and field requirements. Verify the accuracy of survey data and assist with as-built documentation. Maintain survey equipment and supplies required for daily operations. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry standards. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Experience in construction surveying and field layout operations. Proficiency with GPS, Total Station, boundary surveying, field control, and construction layout. Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience preparing as-builts and maintaining detailed field notes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management systems. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including occasional night work. Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working on uneven terrain. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Ability to maintain awareness of active construction operations, heavy equipment, and moving machinery. This position is primarily performed on active construction sites.
