Communications Manager, Physician Relations

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, developing marketing and/or communication for internal and/or external audiences and channels, and demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the team's and department's activities and priorities. This position provides mentorship and training to teammates and partners with department management on system wide strategic program planning initiatives that align with the priorities of Seattle Children's hospital, research institute and foundation. This work involves initiating, developing, coordinating, implementing and/or evaluating marketing and/or communication plans related to these projects and initiatives. Other responsibilities include: providing marketing and/or communications consultation and support to leaders, communications staff, clients and work teams for projects and initiatives that span multiple audiences and vehicles; advanced project management skills are required. In addition, responsibilities may include content development for a variety of channels including newsletters, websites, blogs, presentations, key messages, etc.; assisting with production and distribution of internal and/or external publications/collateral; updating content on Seattle Children's intranet and/or external website; project management; message development for senior leaders; and communication support during crisis situations. While this role mentors and trains teammates, it does not include direct supervision of team members. Roles in the following teams rotate and help coordinate 24/7 on-call responsibilities with their teammates: Internal communications; Patient and Family Education and Communications; Public Engagement; and Research MarComm. Communication managers who are part of other teams may have infrequent on-call responsibilities, as needed. Summary of Responsibilities The Physician Relations Communications Manager drives engagement and supports referral growth by leading community provider-facing communications and marketing efforts that align with organizational strategy, ensuring high-quality, accurate and impactful touchpoints across various communication channels. Day-to-day responsibilities include consulting on and leading communications and marketing plans to support strategic growth opportunities for the organization; managing Seattle Children’s monthly Provider News newsletter; overseeing end-to-end content production of provider-facing content and collateral (including flyers, algorithms, videos, advertising, and more); managing updates and audits to the Healthcare Professionals website; and conducting regular impact and ROI reviews of communications to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and increase engagement with referring providers. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or closely related field. A minimum of seven (7) years experience in a marketing and/or communications role. Required Credentials n/a. Preferred Experience working as a marketing and/or communications professional in a healthcare setting. Experience managing complex, multi-faceted communication plans involving multiple stakeholders and audiences. Advanced experience with project management at multiple levels of an organization. Experience with crisis/reactive communication, including response and support. Experience writing for print and online channels (e.g., newsletters; flyers; brochures; websites; blogs; etc.). Experience with Associated Press style and adherence to editorial and graphic standards. Experience developing messaging with an equity, diversity and inclusion focus, and an understanding of EDI principles like unconscious/implicit bias, social determinants of health, etc. Experience providing marketing and/or communications consultation and support to senior leaders. Experience writing for provider/physician audiences. Experience analyzing and using data to make decisions. Compensation Range $97,665.00 - $146,497.00 per year Salary Information This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
