Job Opportunity: Local Route Driver – Class A/B
Location: Poway
Service Area: San Diego County & Immediate Outlying Areas

Position Overview

As a Local Route Driver, you will operate Class C-rated trucks up to 26,000 lbs., including articulated straight trucks equipped with air brakes and automatic transmissions. You may also operate flatbed articulated ramp tow trucks for our sister company.

Our specialized trucks are designed for maximum efficiency, allowing for some of the fastest loading and unloading times in the industry.

This is a NO TOUCH FREIGHT position. Your primary responsibility will be the safe delivery, placement, and retrieval of self-storage containers at customer locations for moving, onsite use, or storage at our facility.

You will operate specialized articulated straight trucks and use problem-solving skills to complete deliveries in a variety of locations. If you enjoy driving, working independently, and operating unique equipment, this role is a great opportunity.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with at least 4 years of commercial truck driving experience .
• Clean motor vehicle record and ability to provide a DMV H6 report (current within 60 days).
• Ability to perform a DOT pre-trip inspection , including an air brake check.
• Pass a DOT physical examination and an on-road driving skills test.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs occasionally .
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and GPS navigation systems .
• Exceptional customer service and professionalism .
• Reliable transportation to and from Poway & Carlsbad.
• Flexible schedule – must be available for overtime, rotating weekends (when required), and varying start locations (Poway or Carlsbad).
• Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and ability to adapt to an evolving work environment.
• Ability to complete necessary paperwork accurately and legibly.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with PTO truck operation .
• Ability to tow and maneuver 16' towable box trailers .
• Proficient in trailer backing .
• Forklift operation.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Experience with zero-clearance truck maneuvering .
• Any driving-related awards or recognitions .

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate and drive truck for deliveries and pick-ups.
• Operate a ½ ton truck for the delivery and retrieval of refrigerated 16' trailer units.
• Complete all required paperwork and logbooks in compliance with regulations.
• Communicate with customers professionally and effectively via phone and in-person interactions .
• Assist with the assembly of new storage containers as needed.
• Help with cleaning and servicing storage containers as required.
• Assisting in keeping the warehouses in order & clean.

Compensation & Work Schedule

• Weekly hours may range from 40 to 60 hours , with regular overtime opportunities.
• Rotating & weekend shifts may be required during peak season.
