Every person. Every time.# JOB SUMMARYPerforms scrub nurse duties for surgical cases and assists registered nurse in caring for the surgical patient. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills of aseptic techniques. Must demonstrate knowledge of surgical instrumentation, supplies and equipment. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population served.**JOB QUALIFICATIONS****Education:** High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from a Surgical Technology program or Liscensed Practical Nurse with post graduate training as an Operating Room Technician or previous OR tech experience.**Licensure**: Current Licensure as a Practical Nurse from State of GA and/or Certified Surgical Technologist and/or minimum 1 year OR experience as scrub tech (Competency in all specialties required for level II and level III)**Experience:** Certified Surgical Technologist or a minimum of 1 years OR experience. Clinical skills as scrub nurse as demonstrated by successful completion of OR skills checklist and above average performance appraisals (Minimum 2 years experience for level II and 3 years for level III). 12 hours of Continuing Education credits required for level II and 16 hours for level III. One inservice per year required for level II and 2 for level III.**Skills:** Manual dexterity to handle multitude of OR instruments. Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients’ needs that are appropriate for the population served. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for the population served.## PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONSWorks in surgical suite under aseptic conditions and cool temperatures. Exposure to hazards found in surgical areas. Requires ability to work flexible schedule. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
