Clean Room Quality Assurance Inspector

Description Position Summary The Cleanroom Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for final inspection, compliance verification, and quality oversight activities associated with SCI's controlled-environment operations, including oxygen cleaning, breathing air systems, steam plant cleanliness programs, diver life support systems, ISO/IEC 17025 calibration services, and other customer-specific cleanliness and quality requirements. This position serves as the final quality verification point for work performed within SCI's ISO Class 5 Cleanroom and associated controlled work areas. The role ensures compliance with NAVSEA requirements, ISO 9001 quality requirements, ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, customer specifications, contamination control standards, and internal SCI procedures. The Cleanroom Quality Assurance Inspector will develop technical expertise in oxygen cleanliness verification, contamination control, final inspection techniques, calibration record review, and accreditation compliance while supporting SCI's quality and metrology programs. Position Impact The Cleanroom Quality Assurance Inspector serves as the final quality gate for SCI's critical cleanliness, life support, breathing air, oxygen, steam plant, and calibration service programs. This position plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with NAVSEA requirements, ISO 9001 quality standards, ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements, and customer-specific specifications while protecting personnel safety, mission readiness, customer confidence, and SCI's reputation for technical excellence. Requirements Final Inspection and Quality Verification Perform final inspection and compliance verification activities for oxygen‑cleaned components, breathing air systems, steam plant cleanliness programs, diver life support systems, calibration services, and other controlled‑environment work performed by SCI. Verify completed work meets applicable customer requirements, NAVSEA requirements, military specifications, ISO 9001 requirements, ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, and SCI procedures. Review work packages, inspection records, calibration records, cleaning records, certifications, and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to release. Verify traceability, identification, labeling, and documentation requirements have been satisfied before release to customers. Approve or reject completed work based upon established acceptance criteria and documented requirements. Identify discrepancies, nonconformances, contamination risks, and procedural deficiencies and coordinate resolution with Quality and Operations personnel. Precision Cleaning and Controlled Environment Compliance Support SCI's Oxygen Instrumentation Calibration Room (OICR) program and associated NAVSEA requirements. Perform inspection and verification activities associated with oxygen cleanliness, breathing air systems, diver life support systems, steam plant cleanliness programs, and other controlled‑environment services. Verify compliance with contamination control requirements, cleanliness standards, handling procedures, preservation requirements, and packaging requirements. Review oxygen cleaning records, cleanliness verification records, and supporting documentation for compliance with applicable requirements. Support quality oversight of SCI's ISO Class 5 Cleanroom and associated controlled workstations. Identify and report potential contamination risks and process deviations that may impact cleanliness certification or customer requirements. ISO 9001 and Quality Management System Support Support SCI's ISO 9001 Quality Management System through inspection, verification, documentation review, and process compliance activities. Assist with quality investigations, corrective actions, preventive actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain quality records in accordance with SCI procedures and customer requirements. Support internal audits and customer audits related to cleanroom operations and controlled‑environment services. Assist in maintaining compliance with customer‑specific quality requirements and contractual obligations. ISO/IEC 17025 Calibration Quality Support Learn and perform final inspection activities associated with SCI's ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration services. Review calibration certificates, calibration data sheets, and supporting records for completeness, accuracy, and procedural compliance. Verify calibration records satisfy SCI quality requirements prior to release. Support technical review and quality assurance activities under the direction of the Laboratory Technical Manager. Assist with accreditation assessments, proficiency testing activities, and audit preparation efforts. Audit and Compliance Support Support preparation for NAVSEA, customer, accreditation body, and internal audits. Participate in audit activities and assist with collection of objective evidence. Support proficiency demonstrations and competency evaluations as required. Assist with implementation of corrective actions and verification of effectiveness. Maintain familiarity with evolving customer, NAVSEA, ISO 9001, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. Training and Professional Development SCI will provide training and qualification necessary for successful performance of this role, including: NAVSEA Oxygen Equipment Cleaning and Calibration Course. Oxygen Instrumentation Calibration Room (OICR) qualification requirements. ISO Class 5 Cleanroom operations and contamination control practices. Final inspection and release authority training. ISO 9001 Quality Management System awareness and application. ISO/IEC 17025 awareness and calibration quality review training. Calibration certificate review and technical documentation review. NAVSEA diver life support system program awareness. Systems and Tools Utilize SCI quality management systems, document control systems, and inspection records to perform verification and release activities. Review and maintain records using calibration management software, ERP systems, job travelers, customer documentation systems, and other business systems as assigned. Utilize Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint to support quality documentation, reporting, and communication activities. Maintain accurate electronic and hard‑copy records in accordance with SCI procedures and customer requirements. Qualifications - Required High school diploma or equivalent. Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Ability to follow written procedures, technical instructions, and quality requirements. Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work within controlled environments and cleanroom protocols. Qualifications - Preferred Experience in quality inspection, calibration, metrology, manufacturing, shipbuilding, aviation, military, nuclear, or regulated technical environments. Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, NAVSEA, SUBSAFE, DLSS, steam plant cleanliness programs, and objective quality evidence. Experience reviewing technical documentation, inspection records, or quality records. Previous cleanroom or contamination control experience. Military technical maintenance or quality assurance experience. Safety It is SCI’s policy to require safe operations and practices from all employees and to ensure our management team focuses on maintaining a safe working environment even while working in hazardous work environments. Travel Travel is not required. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work is performed within office, laboratory, cleanroom, and controlled‑environment settings. Must be able to work within an ISO Class 5 Cleanroom and comply with gowning, PPE, contamination‑control, and environmental requirements. Must be capable of performing detailed visual inspections, cleanliness verification activities, and documentation reviews for extended periods of time. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform inspection activities throughout the workday. Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment, components, and documentation weighing up to 25 pounds. May be exposed to cleaning agents, compressed gas systems, precision‑cleaned components, and other controlled materials in accordance with approved safety procedures.
