Mission Contribution:

Leads the recruitment experience and HR employment support through brand consistency, integrity of the promise to all internal customers to invest in those individuals who are qualified for positions within Memphis Goodwill (MGI), Memphis Goodwill Industries (MGII) and The Excel Center (GEC). This is accomplished by administering and implementing human resource policies and practices as well as overall organizational guidelines and maintaining business staff levels.


Function:

Under the direct leadership of the HR Manager, uses a working knowledge of applicable employment laws and HR best practices to assist in providing guidance and solutions to leaders and team members regarding policy interpretation, performance management, conflict resolution, and employment determinations while also assisting with recruiting, staffing positions, and managing the onboarding and brand consistency process and administrative duties. Works to support and maintain a well-organized and effective employment process that enables positive synergy between Human Resources and all departments.


Specific Duties:

1. Oversees the TM Relations Specialists and TA Specialists, to ensure effective outcomes in the assigned departments, and provides support to other partners in the development of the organization's human capital.

1. Works with MGI, MGII and GEC's hiring managers, and Operational Leaders to identify employment needs and to coordinate the proper documentation of open positions including confirmation of current job descriptions and authorized personnel request forms.

1. Prepares and maintains accurate hiring records in accordance with job requirements, applicable statutes, and accreditation requirements, i.e., I-9s and identification, W-4s, credential verifications, background check records and drug test results, among others. Supports the process of personnel data in a timely manner in accordance with the State of Mississippi, State of Tennessee, the Department of Labor, and Agency standards - including any accreditation requirements.

1. Designs, coordinates with management, and delivers new hire orientation to acclimate new team members to Goodwill's Core Values, Guiding Principles, policies, and procedures, and to inspire and create engagement with our mission. Ensures this training material is current and accurate.

1. Manages appropriate scheduling of first day of employment, completion of timely and accurate new hire paperwork and all relevant training material.

1. Ensures the investment and integrity of the onboarding process for all new hires in MGI, MGII and GEC. Addresses new team member training issues after reviewing hiring information.

1. Leads with job postings and advertising initiatives. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the MGI Recruiting worksheet on SharePoint as well as ensuring that we meet budgetary constraints with postings that are being utilized.

1. Conducts screening and selection actions from start to finish. This includes, but is not limited to, posting, reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, scheduling interviews, and referring the most qualified internal and/or external candidates to the hiring manager for interview. Keeps candidates and hiring managers updated on the hiring situation. Updates the Baseline as needed. Communicates job offer to exempt and non-exempt selected candidates as well as supporting communication to our leadership candidates.

1. Performs all appropriate pre-employment screens, coordinates the drug screening, MVRs when applicable, education checks when applicable and background check processes. Supports the preparation of all documentation related to the hiring process for all hourly positions.
2. Foster and advance human resource performance improvement aligned to the Mission, Core Values, and Guiding Principles.
3. Manages the organization's performance management system including consultation for team leaders, follow up to timely completion, and processing performance assessments and job descriptions to ensure team members know what is expected and where they stand.
4. Assists on team member-related matters for the specific assigned departments, in the administration of our standards of conduct, core values, guiding principles, code of ethics and other employment guidelines; as they apply to team members' progressive performance and discipline management.
5. Always maintains high level of employee confidentiality.
6. Consults with supervisor on and is becoming a subject matter expert on employment laws and regulations, as well as HR best practices to mitigate risk and enhance the employee experience, and provide guidance to the operational leaders on such issues as needed, relating to Safety, Wage and Hour, Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Worker's Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, in addition to those pertaining to personnel matters as required by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
7. Overseas FMLA leave, tracking, medical documentation, return to work for assigned departments. Receives Incident/Accident reports, and partners with Risk & Safety for workers compensation injury job restriction accommodation and transitional duty, return to full release.
8. Provides guidance for Leaders with assessment and performance management of their subordinates. Prepares monthly performance review reports for the organization.
9. Ensures consistency of message and integrity of the MGI brand.
10. Culture Keeper. Demonstrates and leads positive organizational culture development.
11. Stays abreast of new developments with the State and Federal regulatory labor laws.
12. Attends in-service and related training as assigned by team leader.

Qualifications:

• Basic personnel practices and law.

• Ability to work well under tight timeframes with a sense of urgency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal customer service, problem solving, and negotiating skills.
• Strong insight and ability to assess character and viability of candidates and exercising discretion accordingly.
• Practical knowledge of recruiting, screening, interviewing and reference check procedures.
• Perform day-to-day responsibilities independently and with minimum supervision. Ability and flexibility to work on multiple tasks.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with visitors, team members and team leaders.

Training & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in related discipline is preferred; or combination of HR education/certification and minimum of 5-10 years' experience working in HR and/or Talent Acquisitions.
• In-house recruitment experience hiring retail, manufacturing or equivalent positions.

Special Requirements:

• Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekends.
• Must be able to present and lead instructor led training to a group of people at a time.
• Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license, appropriate insurance coverage and a privately owned reliable means of transportation to travel throughout territory to visit locations.
• Ability to bend, reach and stand, and lift, push, or pull up to twenty-five pounds on an occasional basis.
