Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a Night shift, 13-week assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of telemetry/step-down experience.

Details

• Telemetry/step-down unit in a short-term acute care hospital
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry/step-down nursing experience required
• Experience with EKG interpretation and cardiac drip management required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and port access/management
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Care for cardiac telemetry and respiratory patients, including chest tube and oxygen therapy management
• Manage and interpret dysrhythmias with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Administer heparin protocols and manage cardiac/vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Provide wound care, IV insulin protocol management, and pacemaker care
• Support patients pre/post cardiac catheterization, angiogram, and cardiac surgery
• Navy blue scrubs required
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Returning permanent BJC employees must wait 1 year before accepting a travel assignment at any BJC facility
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
