Working in collaboration with the attending physician, the nurse practitioner performs medical acts in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, Texas Occupations Code and Medical Practice Act. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited school of nursing, current, valid license to practice nursing in the State of Texas, completion of an accrediting Nurse Practitioner program (Family, Geriatric or Pediatric), limited prescriptive authority, Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program, and other certificates as required by unit/service. Two years related experience is required. Special requirements include communication skills above average verbal (heavy public contact) and exceptional verbal (e.g., public speaking).
