Some examples of job duties are as follows: Perform detailed inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects to ensure code compliance. Review construction plans and specifications for adherence to building regulations and safety standards. Provide guidance and supervision to junior inspectors, ensuring consistency in inspections and interpretations of building codes. Respond to inquiries from contractors, developers, and the public regarding building code requirements and inspection processes. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities is: Education: Completion of related college coursework is highly desirable. Experience: Six years of building inspection experience with a public agency inspecting all trades. Of the six years of experience, three years of experience inspecting commercial and mixed‑use development at the journey level is required. One year of experience working in a supervisory or lead capacity is required. Experience in any of the major trade fields or in performing various trade work is highly desirable. License or Certificate: Possession of a Residential Combination Inspector Certification and Commercial Building Inspector Certificate, or equivalent, as determined by the Chief Building Official, issued by the International Code Council (ICC) or other recognized agency, is required. Possession of additional certifications issued by the International Code Council (ICC) is highly desirable. Possession of a valid Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. Salary and Benefits Salary: $100,929 - $122,680 annually. A 2% COLA is scheduled for 11/1/2026. Medical Insurance at affordable rates – City covers up to 85% of Kaiser premium; other plans are also available. Vision and Dental Insurance – monthly premiums covered 100% by the City. Healthcare double coverage opt‑out incentive of $3,000 per year for eligible employees. Paid sick leave, vacation leave, thirteen holidays and two floating holidays a year. Up to 97.5 hours per year of Administrative Leave. Tuition reimbursement and student loan repayment up to $2,200 per fiscal year. Deferred compensation plan with up to 6% City contribution available.
