Electronic Equipment Repairer
Job Description
Duties
- Perform overhaul, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, alignment, installation, and maintenance on electronic equipment.
- Set up and operate standalone and computer controlled automatic test equipment (ATE) to test and troubleshoot various components and assemblies of electronic equipment or printed circuit boards.
- Read and interpret manufacturers specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders.
- Assist engineering personnel in developing, debugging, or modifying diagnostic programs.
- Retest all items after repairs are completed to ensure they can pass the diagnostic test without error.
- Evaluate, perform functional tests, troubleshoot, and determine the extent of repair required on electronic equipment or systems.

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Incumbent must be able to lift, carry, pull, and push objects weighing from 15 - 44 pounds. Any weight to be lifted in excess of 40 pounds will not be attempted unaided.
- Hearing protection must be worn for noise levels of 85 DBA and double protection is required for levels over 105 DBA.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Soldering certification.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performing overhaul, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, alignment, installation, and maintenance on electronic equipment; 2) Setting up and operating automatic and standalone test equipment to test/troubleshoot Weapon Repairable Assemblies and/or Service Repairable Assemblies; 3) Applying knowledge of operating electronic principles such as, micro-miniaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, tube circuits, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification; 4) Working from manufacturers specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders; and 5) Using hand tools (i.e. soldering irons, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, wire strippers, and crimpers) to execute repairs and replace defective components. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires exposure to high noise levels. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
