Lead Research Engineer Med-Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology within the Mercy Pavilion is searching for a Lead Research Engineer to mainly work in our Microscopy suite. PhD in Biomedical Sciences or similar field required, 5+ years in a microscopy field experience.

Job Summary

Designs, fabricates, and maintains research instrumentation and develops conceptual project design and instrumentation, software programs, and data collection methods. Assists with conducting research and oversees research projects. Utilizes specialized data analysis software and performs advanced data analysis. Contributes to manuscripts and reviews others' research papers for publication.

Essential Functions

• The position was created for the purpose of operating and maintaining light sheet microscopy systems within the Ophthalmology department. Along with teaching and training on proper use of imaging systems.
• Develop conceptual project design and instrumentation, software programs, and data collection methods in regard to Microscopy systems.
• Performs advanced data analysis for researchers using specialized data analysis software.
• Prepares written reports, including contributing to manuscript preparation; presents results at conferences. Reviews sections of others' research papers submitted for publication.
