People like you!Job DescriptionRole: HSE SpecialistJob Summary: Reporting to plant leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and maintaining IKO safety goals and ensuring a safe work environment for all employees. This includes leading safety and housekeeping efforts, developing health and safety systems and procedures, identifying hazards, conducting investigations and root cause analysis, managing workers’ compensation activities, completing audits and regulatory reporting, administering behavior-based safety programs, coordinating emergency response procedures, maintaining environmental permits and compliance, and partnering with regulatory agencies and auditors.BenefitsHealth Insurance (includes teledoc, virtual health, FSA, HCSA & other benefits)Dental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsuranceHealth Spending AccountEmployee Support and Mental WellnessShort term disability401k MatchPaid vacationFloating daysEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee Engagement EventsAwards and RecognitionTuition ReimbursementService AwardsEmployee Perks & DiscountsJob ResponsibilitiesPromote and maintain IKO safety goals and ensure a safe work environment for all employeesLead safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions within departments and assigned projectsDevelop goals, objectives, systems, and plant-wide policies and procedures related to health and safetyIdentify health and safety hazards and investigate work-related accidents; conduct thorough root cause analysisManage all activities related to safety and workers’ compensation including first report of injury, OSHA 300 log, audits, physician and insurance carrier communication, and record keepingComplete all safety audits, records, and required reports on time; file and maintain safety recordsMonitor safety performance and trends to minimize work-related incidentsAccountable for implementation and management of Behavior Based SafetyCollaborate with local healthcare providers to support medical treatment and employee case managementCoordinate with external providers for claims management and return-to-work practicesEnsure compliance with Federal, State, Local, and Company regulations (OSHA, TOSHA, NIOSH, etc.)Lead IKO Safety and BBS teamsConduct required safety training and orientationParticipate in and lead internal and external surveillance auditsPerform and coordinate various testing, including noise surveys and industrial hygieneDevelop, update, and implement emergency response proceduresComplete and maintain environmental permits, records, audits, and reports (SWPPP, SPCC, air, storm water, wastewater)Interface with government regulatory personnel and corporate auditorsPlan, organize, and direct work performed by contractors; ensure compliance with safety policiesOrganize and maintain facility securityGeneral housekeeping dutiesAdditional duties as assigned by Supervisory staffQualificationsRequired: Able to work flexible, rotating production shifts 8/10/12 hoursPrior Health, Safety and Environmental experienceMinimum three years of manufacturing experience preferredExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)Demonstrated initiative and ability to handle complex assignmentsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to develop and manage a budgetary control processAnalytical, data-driven problem-solving skillsAbility to make independent and well-reasoned decisionsOrganized, self-starter, results-oriented, strong problem solverAbility to provide simple and accurate instructionsAbility to work in a high-temperature environmentAbility to lift up to 50 lbsComfortable with standing for extended periods of timeRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and graspMust be able to work at heights and in confined spacesMust be able to walk and/or stand 90% of the shiftThis is a safety sensitive position.Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
