Job Description CAT Scan Technician Pay Rate: $67.86 Request #: 33323061 Work schedule: Monday – Friday Shift: 3 pm-11 pm On-call or weekends required: YES On Call only Float: NO Call Back: YES Role Summary We are seeking a CAT Scan Tech who must perform all tasks as required by the coordinator and lead staff. Prepare equipment and supplies for specific procedures and ensure patients' physical and psychological comfort. Maintain specific inventory records and ensure the area is stocked with adequate supplies. Coordinate the schedule of daily exams and any additional responsibilities if any. Key Results Area The CT technologist will demonstrate professionalism and service excellence when performing the following tasks: obtains necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols, maintains sterility of field and instruments, and correctly prepares requisitions. Communicates to and involves the patient and family before, during, and after the procedure to alleviate anxiety while maintaining privacy and dignity. Adheres to all HIPPA regulations, verifies patient identification per AHS policy, observes the patient’s condition before and after contrast injections, reports sudden changes to nursing staff and the radiologist, ensures availability of medical records, previous reports, labs, and history, and can initiate an emergency response in case of complications. Maintains adequate linen supplies, contrast media, and biopsy/drainage supplies in each scanning room; adheres to room assignments (CT 1,2,3); assists in maintaining the CT storeroom and outside inventory; participates in daily inventory and stocking of supplies; notifies the Lead of expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications; cleans and inventories supplies; participates in routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table, and peripheral equipment after each use. The point staff triages procedures according to the daily schedule and ensures timely coordination of all emergency and unscheduled procedure requests. Assigns staff to ensure efficient workflow while maintaining an environment of patient safety, coordinates emergent and unscheduled procedure requests within the schedule, communicates with all departments and floors regarding patient status, and ensures immediate patient transport post‑procedure. Assists in performing routine procedures, assesses the patient’s ability to tolerate contrast, screens for allergies/medication incompatibilities, cleans the CT unit and room after each use, maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the working area, notifies the Coordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions, maintains QA/QC requirements for daily, monthly, and ACR specifications, recognizes unusual conditions in equipment operation, alerts appropriate personnel of malfunctions, and adheres to venipuncture and power injector protocols. When doing cases that require immediate results such as Code Grey, Trauma, and Partial Trauma, the images will be acquired, processed, sent, and verified/completed in the PACS/RIS system per established protocol (immediately after acquisition for Code Grey). The CT technologist will notify the radiologist as Code Grey images are being sent and follow up with processed data afterward. All staff should notify the radiologist of any unusual finding to provide optimum care for the patient. Skills & Qualifications CT registered; maintains current certification/licensure as required for the position. CPR mandatory. A current NJ RN License or compact license.
