Executive Director of Development

Mississippi State University is hiring an Executive Director of Development to lead and strategize all fundraising and development activities in consultation with the Vice President. The role involves managing major donor portfolios, designing advancement strategies, collaborating with senior leadership, and directing development staff to meet ambitious fundraising goals aligned with institutional priorities. Highlights Develops and implements comprehensive fundraising strategies including major, principal, corporate, and planned giving. Manages a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, conducting strategic engagement and solicitation. Leads development staff by establishing performance metrics, conducting coaching, and fostering professional growth. Partners with senior leadership, academic administrators, and executives to align philanthropic efforts with institutional goals. Prepares complex gift proposals and ensures alignment with university priorities. Requires knowledge of advancement, development, and higher education philanthropy with at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience. Must hold a bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering, architecture, or related field. Strong communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills are essential. Works closely with Deans and faculty to identify funding priorities and develop cases for support.
