Job Summary

The Controller is responsible for leading all day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a small accounting team and owning the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the company's financial reporting. This position requires a strong technical accounting background, the ability to manage and improve processes, and a willingness to be directly involved in the details when needed.

Work Schedule

This position reports to an office located in Orlando, FL Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the full monthly close process across multiple entities
• Prepare and/or review financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Oversee and support A/R and A/P functions, ensuring timely collections and payments
• Supervise and develop accounting staff, including Staff Accountant and A/P Clerk
• Manage intercompany transactions and entity-level financial reporting
• Maintain and improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls
• Coordinate with external CPA firm, tax advisors, and auditors
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Assist leadership with financial analysis and reporting as needed
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager preferred
• Strong experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
• Experience working with multiple entities required
• Property management, construction, or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred
• Hands-on approach with the ability to both lead and execute
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Experience using NetSuite is preferred, or an equivalent business management platform
