Sr. Electrician

Perform electrical maintenance tasks on plant utility and process infrastructure. Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, electrical components, and electronic components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications. Work with a limited degree of supervision and complete and/or provide guidance on complex problems and/or new assignments. Function as the go-to subject matter resource for colleagues with less experience. Job Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, test, install, and repair electrical parts, equipment and systems; install or replace circuit breakers, fuses, and variable speed components. Work on electrical equipment including but not limited to frequency drives (VFDs), contactors, overload devices, fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring. Safely work with multi‑phase, high‑voltage and low‑voltage electrical systems. Troubleshoot and resolve control networks, instrumentation, PLC devices (Programmable Logic Control), HMI (Human Machine Interface), VFD, servo, and other control problems. Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, distribution systems, motor control centers, and motors. Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime. Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production. Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques. Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, identify opportunities to improve processes. Anticipate parts requirements for tasks, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance. Perform and assist in all operations maintenance activities, in accordance with national, state and local electrical codes. Use a computerized maintenance management system (e.g., SAP) to record and access maintenance‑related information. Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues. Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements. Other duties may be assigned as required. Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from trade school or technical school in related discipline preferred. 4 to 6 years of electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and automation system maintenance experience. Certification and/or license – Electrician journeyman license or other location‑specific electrician license; master electrician preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment. Considerable knowledge and application of national, state, local building codes, OSHA, and standard industry safety rules/regulations pertaining to electrical work. Ability to use standard hand and power tools and equipment used in electrical maintenance activities. Ability to use ladders and scaffolding in a safe, efficient manner. Ability to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints. Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment downtime. Ability to perform complex or complicated electrical activities/repairs independently. Ability to complete projects from planning to installation. Ability to present options and ideas to improve current processes or procedures. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
