Assistant Director of Rehabilitation (ADR)

Location: Westbrook, Maine
Setting: Skilled Nursing Facility | Post-Hospital Rehabilitation | Long-Term Care | Memory Care
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week | Monday–Friday | Weekend Rotation
Compensation: $30–$46 per hour, depending on discipline
Eligible Disciplines: PT, PTA, or SLP

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Rehabilitation (ADR) to join a collaborative therapy team in Westbrook, Maine. This is a great opportunity for a PT, PTA, or SLP who enjoys patient care but is also ready to take on greater responsibility, support fellow clinicians, and help drive the success of a rehabilitation department.

The facility provides a comprehensive continuum of care, including post-hospital short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, respite services, and Memory Care . The team is committed to delivering individualized, compassionate care while helping residents achieve their highest possible level of function and quality of life.

The center has also earned the Skilled Nursing Facility Heart Failure Certification from the American Heart Association , reflecting its commitment to quality care for individuals with complex cardiac needs.

This position is not open to new graduates. Previous rehabilitation experience is required.

What You’ll Do

As the Assistant Director of Rehabilitation, you will partner with the Director of Rehabilitation and therapy team to support the daily success of the department while helping ensure residents receive exceptional care.

Leadership & Department Support

• Assist with the daily coordination and operations of the rehabilitation department

• Support the Director of Rehabilitation with clinical and operational responsibilities

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to therapy staff

• Help foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture

• Assist with scheduling, staffing, productivity, and workflow management

• Support orientation and onboarding of new therapy team members

• Encourage ongoing professional development and clinical excellence

Clinical Excellence

• Help ensure therapy services are individualized to each resident's goals, abilities, and medical needs

• Collaborate with PT, OT, SLP, nursing, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team

• Support strong clinical outcomes and resident satisfaction

• Assist clinicians with complex cases and clinical problem-solving when appropriate

• Promote evidence-based rehabilitation practices

• Help ensure appropriate documentation and compliance with facility and regulatory standards

Resident-Centered Care

• Support rehabilitation programs for short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, respite, and Memory Care residents

• Encourage functional independence and participation in meaningful daily activities

• Help the team develop practical treatment strategies that reflect each resident's individual goals

• Promote a compassionate, respectful approach to residents and their families

• Help create a rehabilitation environment where residents feel supported, motivated, and valued

What We’re Looking For

• Current PT, PTA, or SLP license eligible to practice in Maine

• Previous clinical experience in a skilled nursing or post-acute rehabilitation setting

• Previous leadership, supervisory, lead therapist, or rehabilitation management experience strongly preferred

• Strong understanding of rehabilitation operations and clinical standards

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities

• Ability to mentor and motivate other clinicians

• Comfortable balancing patient care responsibilities with administrative and leadership duties

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

• Commitment to providing high-quality, resident-centered care

• New graduates are not eligible for this position
