Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience required License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Excellent documentation skills, IV skills, phlebotomy Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit. Candidates must provide excellent care to patients. Collaboration and teamwork are essential. IV skills and phlebotomy are required. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience. Patient ratios are 1:4-6. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Skills in Med/Surg and Telemetry - remote monitoring are necessary. Experience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, and blood product administration is needed. Competence in phlebotomy, central line management, and peripheral line care is required. Knowledge of dysrhythmias and their interpretation/management is essential. Experience with various drips such as Heparin, Bivalirudin, and Amiodarone is required. Foley catheter care and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) experience is necessary. Candidates must pass an EKG interpretation exam. Daily patient diagnoses may include ostomy care, colon resection, and bladder cancer. The unit handles high turnover surgical patients and medical overflow. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams.
