About the Role
The Company is seeking to fill two vacancies for Board Directors. The successful candidates will join a nine-member Board of Directors dedicated to advancing innovation and bringing significant industry expertise in intellectual property and the clean-technology sector. The Board is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the organization, which is focused on improving the ability of Canadian companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, to implement intellectual property strategies that create global business advantage and increase access to global markets. This is achieved by mitigating risks impacting their freedom to operate and helping them establish ownership positions on intellectual property rights. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: government and innovation programming, patent transactions, data commercialization, and operating experience in building and sustaining organizations for global competition. Candidates for the Board Director positions should have a proven track record in their respective areas of expertise and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by SMEs and start-ups, both nationally and globally. Experience in leadership roles within not-for-profit organizations or serving on their boards is also a key requirement. The role demands a comprehensive skill set, including corporate governance, best practices in accountability and transparency, and expertise in risk management, government relations, human resources, legal and compliance, accounting, and finance.
