Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Job Description

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work alongside an Occupational Therapist (OT) in various therapy settings. Under the guidance of the OT, the COTA implements and executes treatment plans for patients/residents, assisting individuals who suffer from illnesses, injuries, or disabilities to improve their ability to perform daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the practice of occupational therapy under the direction of a registered Occupational Therapist.


• Implement occupational therapy treatment plans established by the occupational therapist, adhering to AOTA guidelines and state regulations.


• Provide feedback and suggestions in a collaborative manner with the Occupational Therapist.


• Document occupational therapy services by charting in the resident medical record and comply with facility policies for documentation.


• Help residents perform planned therapeutic procedures by administering appropriate exercises.


• Monitor the resident's environment to identify needs or barriers affecting therapy and recovery.


• Make recommendations concerning necessary accommodations to the occupational therapist.


• Participate in staff meetings and case conferences to meet facility goals and obligations.


• Deliver high levels of customer service to all internal and external customers.

Schedule

This position requires a commitment of 40 hours a week.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
