Television-Princess A-TEST-Local News Reporter

KCRA-TV/KQCA-TV , the news leader in Sacramento, CA, and a Hearst Television station, is looking for a Reporter who can create story ideas, conduct informed interviews, develop sources and build compelling live shots. The ideal candidate is a strong, take-charge reporter who hits the ground running every day.

We value strong enterprise reporting and are looking for someone who finds the stories that lead newscasts. In addition to credibility, poise and personality, this reporter is not afraid to head into the field, ask tough questions and break big stories. This position requires a versatile, enterprising self-starter who is fast, efficient, works well under tight deadlines, can develop sources and has excellent live reporting skills. You will report to the Assistant News Director.

Responsibilities

• Plan, gather and assemble stories for day-of news and special project assignments.
• Work with or without a photographer to gather and edit compelling video and captivating sound.
• Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories that go beyond surface details, highlight unique enterprise angles and include exclusive content.
• Develop a network of sources who provide tips, early access to information and opportunities to break significant stories.
• Contribute pictures, video and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
• Work on multiple stories and projects at once while meeting all deadlines under pressure.
• Uphold unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.

Requirements

• Professional or college reporting experience.
• Experience with enterprise reporting and the ability to uncover details.
• Demo reel that reflects everyday work.
• Ability to write clear, correct and compelling copy that supports gathered images.
• Ability to operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.
• Ability to manage the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
• Related military experience will be considered.

Compensation

The base salary range below is the Company's good-faith estimate for this position in the posted work location at the time of posting. Final starting salary will be based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, training, certifications, education, location and market considerations.

Base Salary Range:

$70,000—$80,000 USD
