Bilingual Parenting Specialist - Seton Home

Full‑time Work Days: Monday thru Friday Work Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Work Location: 1115 Mission Rd, San Antonio, TX 78210 Mission Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children. Summary The Parenting Specialist will provide services and administrative tasks assigned by the Lead Parenting Specialist. The Parenting Specialist will maintain a caseload of 12 to 24 Seton Home clients and deliver parenting education in group, small‑group, and individual settings. The role includes training and collaborating with direct‑care staff so that educational content is reinforced in daily interactions and providing new‑hire trainings as needed. The Parenting Specialist documents parenting services in a timely manner and reflects appropriate interventions. The Specialist serves as part of the interdisciplinary team that develops and supports families. Position Responsibilities Maintain a caseload of individual sessions and/or group classes Substitute for Lead Parent Coordinator in facilitating parenting groups, individual sessions, and developmental screenings Deliver client services and all daily interactions within the Sanctuary Model framework Create, measure, and update parenting goals and objectives for assigned residents’ Plans of Service, transfer, and discharge summaries Maintain continuous communication with appropriate Seton Home staff to discuss resident progress in the parenting program Conduct parenting‑related staff development trainings with staff members Assist with maintaining accurate reports of program performance Serve as point staff person to collect, enter, and communicate program performance data (e.g., AAPI‑2 scores, ASQ‑3, class attendance) in internal database on time Schedule guest speakers to conduct presentations on pertinent parenting topics Coordinate with other agencies, schools, and hospitals to provide programs, training, and services for residents related to pregnancy or parenting Inform residential and daycare staff of current infant/child safety recalls monthly Complete a 10‑day New Employee Orientation; failure to meet this requirement will conclude employment Other duties as assigned by Director or Vice President Competencies Advocacy: Ability to support and engage in behavior that addresses systemic barriers facing others, in a fast‑paced environment Building Collaboration: Ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen internal and/or external relationships to achieve organizational goals Customer Service: Ability to attend to the needs of internal and external customers and find resolution within established standards Teamwork: Ability to listen and respond constructively with others, fostering collaboration and team success Integrity / Honesty: Ability to conduct self in ways that align with the organization’s standard of conduct Requirements Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred Experience: Preferred 2 years teaching parenting skills to adolescent mothers Minimum 1‑year employment experience teaching parenting skills to adolescent mothers License and Credentials: Reliable transportation Valid driver license Valid vehicle insurance Submit to a state and federal background check, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check, and Tuberculosis screening Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks Provide proof of immunity to vaccine‑preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route when working directly with unaccompanied children Minimum Knowledge And Skills Working knowledge of TDFPS Minimum Standards and Office of Refugee Resettlement – Division of Unaccompanied Children’s Services National Care Standards Possess therapeutic sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socio‑economic characteristics Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive) Detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, independent and team‑oriented Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension) Travel Requirements Travel requirements for the position include 10% local and 10% overnight.
