Histology Supervisor - California (Permanent Hire)

Hiring a full-time, permanent Histology Supervisor to join a laboratory team in Southern California!

\n The Histology Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the histology lab, ensuring efficient processes align with company goals. This includes training and evaluating personnel, implementing workflow improvements, coordinating quality assurance programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves interacting with various departments, including laboratory, pathology, and client services.\n

Key responsibilities include:

\n

\n
• Training and evaluating histology personnel
\n
• Drafting and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
\n
• Contributing to IT infrastructure development for internal histology services
\n
• Performing routine and specialized histology procedures, including tissue preparation, microtomy, H&E staining, and equipment maintenance
\n
• Handling hazardous materials and maintaining reagents
\n
• Organizing slides for diagnostic purposes
\n

\n

The position works Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

\n

 

\n

Requirements:

\n

\n
• A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in science.
\n
• Certification as HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP).
\n
• At least 7 years of experience as a histotechnician or histotechnologist, with a minimum of 2 years in supervising histology operations and managing people.
\n
• Expertise in confidently cutting and mounting high-quality tissue sections from various tissue types, including needle biopsies.
\n
• Maintenance of continuing education units required by the California Department of Health Services.
\n
• A meticulous, detail-oriented approach to work.
\n
• Proven experience in process improvements and updating standard operating procedures.
\n
• Experience in training and onboarding new team members.
\n
• Prior experience with digital pathology workflows is a plus.
\n
