Functional Family Therapist (FFT) – Child Welfare Albany, NY / Capital Region | Community-Based & Hybrid Help children and families find their way back to one another. A well-established nonprofit human services organization is seeking a Child & Family Therapist / Licensed Clinician to join its Behavioral Health team as a Functional Family Therapist (FFT) , working to support children and youth ages 0–21 who have been placed in foster care, their biological families, and foster families . Whenever safely possible, the goal of foster care is reunification. As a clinician in this role, you'll have the opportunity to be part of that journey — helping families strengthen relationships, address challenges, and build the skills and stability needed to move toward reunification and permanency. This is meaningful, relationship-driven clinical work for someone who wants to see the impact of what they do beyond the walls of an office. What You'll Do: You'll provide intensive, strengths-based clinical services to children, youth, and families involved with the child welfare system. You'll: Develop meaningful therapeutic relationships with children, youth, biological parents, and foster families. Provide therapy and clinical support in homes and community settings. Help families address behavioral, relational, and emotional challenges that may affect stability and reunification. Assess family strengths, dynamics, risk factors, and protective factors. Develop individualized treatment plans focused on sustainable change. Support biological parents as they build skills and strengthen relationships with their children. Help foster families support the emotional and behavioral needs of children in their care. Support children and families during periods of transition, crisis, and uncertainty. Collaborate closely with Child Welfare staff, county partners, schools, behavioral health providers, foster parents, and other members of each child's support system. Help families develop strategies to maintain progress and stability over time. Clinical supervision is provided for Limited Permit clinicians working toward full licensure and for LMSWs pursuing their LCSW. Licensure Candidates must be licensed or license-eligible in New York as one of the following: LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LCAT. Relevant graduate-level internship experience with children, youth, and families can provide a great foundation for this role. This is a full-time, Monday–Friday hybrid/community-based position designed around the needs of the children and families we serve. Some evening hours are expected so clinicians can meet with families after school and work. Your work week will generally include: At least 50% of your time in the community , providing services primarily in foster family homes, as well as biological homes and other appropriate settings as deemed appropriate for treatment. Approximately 25% of your time in the Albany office , collaborating with colleagues and program partners. Opportunities to work remotely to complete some administrative and documentation responsibilities. Travel throughout the service area (Capital Region), with mileage reimbursement provided . A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
