Job Description

A Tier 2 course that is connected to core instruction. This class is designed to provide skill support to students to assist in their core courses. The curricular responsibilities will include working with core teachers to draft real-time supportive lessons that provide students with additional immersion in the concepts and skills being taught in their main course. This position requires the teacher to be well versed in reviewing data as it relates to standards performance, assessing the student information and designing lessons that can help bolster performance in standards development.

Requirements:

• RIDE Certification: Middle Grades Mathematics Teacher, Grades 5-8
• Understanding of second language acquisition.
• Knowledge of current trends in instructional strategies, curriculum development and evaluation techniques for EL students.
• Knowledge of regulations pertaining to the education of students with limited English proficiency.
• Must be computer literate.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Hold a valid Rhode Island Certification - Middle Grades Mathematics Teacher, Grades 5-8
• Prepares and implements well-organized curricula in which students are engaged in relevant, thoughtful, challenging work.
• Differentiates instruction based on the needs of each student.
• Establishes a learning environment of high expectations that supports students.
• Maintains student records.
• Assumes other duties and assignments that may be made from time to time by the Assistant Superintendent and/or building administrator.
