Labor & Employment Associate
A leading law firm is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate to join its Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will have significant management-side employment litigation experience, including experience handling single-plaintiff matters, class actions, and wage-and-hour/PAGA litigation.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have experience with a broad range of labor and employment matters, including:
- Employment litigation involving discrimination, harassment, whistleblower claims, restrictive covenants, and trade secret misappropriation
- Employment class actions and wage-and-hour/PAGA collective actions
- Conducting and assisting with internal investigations
- Responding to demand letters and drafting position statements
- Managing discovery, including eDiscovery
- Conducting legal research and drafting motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
- Preparing for and participating in witness interviews and depositions
- Taking and defending depositions
- Working with expert witnesses
- Preparing for and participating in hearings, arbitrations, arguments, and trials
- Providing day-to-day advice and counseling on workplace law matters
Employment Counseling Experience
Candidates should also have experience advising employers on matters including:
- Wage-and-hour compliance
- ADA and workplace accommodations
- Employment and separation agreements
- Reductions in force (RIFs)
- Employment-related policies and workplace practices
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to the California Bar is required
- Must have management-side law firm experience
- Associate currently in or from the 2022–2024 law school graduating classes
- Significant employment litigation experience, with exposure to most of the matters and responsibilities outlined above
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment
