CDL TRAINER POSITION

Responsibilities A CDL Driver Trainer is responsible for teaching new and inexperienced drivers how to operate a commercial vehicle. This may include coupling, backing, city driving, and mountain road driving. The trainer will develop a training curriculum specific to the company and will be required to keep up‑to‑date on current driving regulations. They must possess excellent communication skills in order to properly instruct their students. Safety is always the top priority for LAC Logistics. The trainer will teach their students defensive driving techniques and instill a strong sense of safety in all aspects of operating a commercial vehicle. In the event of an accident, the trainer will work with the driver to help them understand what went wrong. Other Tasks Preparing and administering training for new and current drivers. Developing curricula, conducting classes, and overseeing behind‑the‑wheel training. Maintaining student records and ensuring compliance with regulations. Assist in developing or updating curriculum and training materials as needed. Assess student learning needs and tailor instruction accordingly. Deliver classroom instruction, behind‑the‑wheel training, and/or web‑based learning modules per assigned schedule. Coordinating scheduling of classes and appointments; inspecting training vehicles; maintaining equipment. Providing accountability and performance feedback to management. Evaluating students' progress and giving feedback. Training new hires on how to fill out paperwork related to their job. Administering oral and written exams. Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required. Two plus years of proven experience in commercial truck driving. Clean driving record with no moving violations. Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles. Alert, focused, and detail‑oriented. Proficient using GPS and other routing systems. Map reading and route planning experience. Self‑starter who works well independently. Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful. Reliable and dependable work ethic. Able to follow spoken and written instructions in English.
