Nomad Health Expands To The Midwest
Nomad Health, a startup that offers an online marketplace for clinical jobs, has launched its platform in the Midwest. Eleven new states are now within its circle: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The New York City-based company's platform lets doctors and nurses find short-term or full-time jobs at hospitals. Both clinicians and health systems can utilize the technology, enabling all stakeholders to connect without involving recruiters or other middlemen.
By expanding to the middle of the country, Nomad hopes to more broadly address the nation's opioid epidemic as well as its provider shortage.
"We are especially excited to introduce Nomad into the Midwest given how severe the clinician shortages are in the region," Nomad co-founder and CEO Alexi Nazem said in a news release.
With this news, the company seems to be following through on its plans to use the $12 million it raised earlier this year. At the time, Nomad said it wanted to use the money to expand its geographic footprint. The Series B round was led by Polaris Partners and with participation from First Round Capital, RRE Ventures, and.406 Ventures.
Last November was also a busy time for the startup as it moved into the realm of telemedicine. Nomad created a marketplace dedicated to telehealth job recruitment. The openings initially advertised on the site included positions in tele-urgent care, telepsychiatry and teledermatology.
After launching its technology in California and Texas in May 2017, Nomad Health also added a nursing platform in Texas in July of last year.
