Job Summary and Qualifications

In the role of Registered Nurse within the Critical Care Facility Float Pool, you will be tasked with conducting patient assessments, formulating care plans, and implementing as well as evaluating care strategies. You will oversee, monitor, and assess the care provided by non-licensed team members.

  • You will conduct and document patient assessments upon admission.
  • You will develop care plans, including discharge strategies, and adjust these plans based on patient responses to treatment while regularly assessing their effectiveness.
  • You will record the outcomes of nursing interventions and patient reactions.
  • You will provide educational resources to patients and their families regarding care and treatment options.
  • You will administer medications and perform treatments in accordance with hospital policies.
  • You will carry out venipuncture and manage IV fluids and medications.
  • You will review new physician orders, ensure their execution and documentation, and confirm that relevant departments are informed of these orders and services.
  • You will alert the Charge Nurse and/or physician regarding any changes in patient conditions.
  • You will deliver accurate and pertinent patient information reports to the incoming shift to maintain continuity of care.
Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an Intensive Care Unit and/or Emergency Department.
Education
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
License and Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas or a Compact Registered Nursing License. If holding a Compact License, a Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required as per organizational policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 12 months of hire, in accordance with organizational policy.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is required within 90 days of hire as per organizational policy.

We specialize in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases and offer a comprehensive 24-hour emergency department for urgent health needs.
