Job Description The Estimator is responsible for the preparation of detailed and accurate estimates for electrical, telecom and general contracting projects. The Estimator also fosters collaborative relationships with the project teams and takes a proactive role in developing relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers. Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, notes, addendums and Q&A to understand project requirements. Demonstrate strong organizational, time‑management and written/verbal communication skills. Attend pre‑bid meetings, take pictures and perform site measurements. Perform quantity take‑off and analyze estimates to determine required trades and set up subcontractor/supplier call lists. Write subcontractor/supplier scopes and send requests for quotes. Prepare both lump‑sum and unit‑price estimates. Organize and analyze subcontractor/material quotations. Apply estimating skills to structures and infrastructure projects. Complete self‑perform bill of material and labor estimates for earthwork, utilities, concrete, carpentry and electrical work performed by JBCC forces. Develop project budgets using previous estimate cost history. Analyze bid documents to determine inherent risk and competitive advantage. Develop and implement a win strategy. Develop DBE, MBE, WBE & VBE plans to provide competitive advantage. Conduct labor reviews with construction managers and program managers. Develop project schedules. Negotiate bid‑day pricing with subcontractors/suppliers. Write and review contracts and purchase orders for accuracy. Schedule and conduct estimate handoff meetings and hold individuals accountable for deliverables. Exhibit clear leadership and be recognized as a leader among peers.
