Senior Accounting Manager

Job Description First Horizon is hiring an Accounting Policy Senior within Corporate Accounting to assist with the implementation of accounting guidance for business strategies and the evaluation of new accounting standards. This role supports the company’s business lines and operational functions in determining the appropriate accounting treatment for transactions. This role also evaluates SEC and regulatory reporting requirements, making updates to external filings as required. Function Lead Implementation of New Accounting Standards, Evaluating Effects on Current Businesses and Accounting Processes and Procedures Primary Responsibility for Documentation of Adoption of Accounting Standards Prepare Disclosures for Pending Accounting Standards Develop Accounting Guidance and Documentation for New Business Strategies and Proposed Transactions Develop Presentations for Management Regarding Impacts of Technical Accounting Issues and New Accounting Standards Review of Financial Statements and Transaction Support to Ensure That Accounting Guidance Was Followed Review of Financial Statements for Compliance With U.S. GAAP and SEC Reporting Requirements Monitoring and Reporting for Emerging Accounting Issues (e.g., AI Projects, Cryptocurrency, Tokenized Deposits, Transferable Tax Credits) Development and Maintenance of Internal Accounting Policies Preparation of Periodic Documentation for Technical Accounting Topics (e.g., Variable Interest Entities, SAB 108, Goodwill Impairment Review, Long-Lived Assets Impairment Review, Fair Value Measurements) Skill Requirements Strong Understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC Reporting Requirements Strong Technical Accounting Skills Ability to Research Accounting and Reporting Guidance(e.g., Accounting Standards Codification, Y9C and Call Report Instructions, Accounting Firm Interpretations) Ability to Research Issues Within Accounting Standards Codification and Available Interpretations Ability to Translate Technical Accounting Requirements Into Transactional Level Guidance and Support Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills Ability to Understand Business Economics and Related Accounting Processes Prior Financial Services, Audit and Internal Control Experience is Desirable Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred 5+ years of Related Work Experience in Public Accounting or Public Company Corporate Accounting Department Also Desirable About Us First Horizon Corporation is a leading regional financial services company, dedicated to helping our clients, communities and associates unlock their full potential with capital and counsel.
