Position Overview Job Title: Biological Scientist III – SES (Position Number: 64084705). This countywide role is within the Tuberculosis Control Program, reporting to the Public Health Services Manager / TB Program Manager. The incumbent develops and implements TB field activities, contact investigation, DOT, and other TB prevention and treatment services. The position is eligible only for current Department of Health employees (OPS, Career Service, SES or SMS). Specific Responsibilities Manage and supervise TB field activities, including Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and Directly Observed Preventive Therapy (DOPT). Plan, direct, and evaluate staff work, including hiring, training, performance reviews, vacation scheduling, and timesheet completion. Conduct TB contact and cluster investigations and produce required reports to meet program objectives. Coordinate and oversee community outreach, presentations, and partnership with medical offices, social service agencies, and public officials. Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of tuberculosis surveillance data in compliance with state and federal regulations. Provide technical guidance on TB disease prevention and control and support staff development. Assume emergency duty as needed, including operating state or county vehicles for official business. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of epidemiology, environmental assessment, and data organization. Understanding of standard precautions and airborne infection control. Interviewing, health investigations, and data analysis skills. Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate independently. Record and report preparation and strict confidentiality. Communication, training, and relationship‑building skills. Computer proficiency with basic software applications. Supervisory ability. Qualifications Current Department of Health employee. Eligibility for security background check and drug screening. Valid driver’s license. Proficient English language communication, both oral and written. Other Job‑Related Requirements May work before, during, or beyond normal hours in emergencies. Use of state or county vehicles approved for official duties only.
