Job Description

The purpose of this position is to mix and serve pre-mixed alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a limited service bar. Regular & recurring duties and responsibilities include:

• Operating limited service bars.
• Preparing a limited variety of alcoholic drinks by selecting proper premix and garnish.
• Serving beer, soda, and wine.
• Serving patrons directly or delivering to waiter.
• Receiving payment, operating cash register, and making and returning change to patrons or waiter.
• Setting up bar for operation and obtaining cash bank.
• Maintaining work area neat and clean.
• Washing bar equipment, glassware, and utensils.
• Stocking service bars and assisting higher-level bartender as required.
• May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Evaluating factors include:

• Skills and knowledge: Knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages. Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Ability to follow cash handling procedures.
• Responsibility: Supervisor provides guidance and evaluates work performance and is available to answer questions and resolve customer dissatisfactions. Work is evaluated on ability to carry out supervisors' instructions concerning work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
• Physical effort: Requires frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying of objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds. Heavier objects such as beer kegs are usually transported with the aid of a dolly.
• Working conditions: Works inside with adequate lighting, heat, and ventilation. Subject to cuts, bruises, and chapped hands.
