Minimum of two years work experience with children in the mental health field or related social service field. Requires experience in customer service/customer relations. Requires the willingness and ability to work irregular hours as needed to ensure quality standards are met in service delivery. (BHRS certification requires a Bachelor’s degree in a social service field.) SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: · Ability to evaluate situations and adopt an effective course of action, to delegate responsibilities, organize and present facts effectively. · Ability to establish working relationships with clinical, administrative, support staff and various agency systems in order to develop professionalism and coordination within the team, while maintaining an objective and cooperative attitude. · Professional presentation of oneself at all times with the ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationship with fellow employees, clients, school personnel, and the public while maintaining objectivity and a positive, collaborative attitude. · Must possess good working knowledge of community social service resources, basic crisis management skills, behavioral health resources, ability to provide trauma-informed care and a commitment to the Sanctuary Model components. · Ability to communicate clearly and in an emotionally intelligent manner with clear, polite, and respectful communication with staff, youth served, administration, public school personnel, and the community- in person, through written correspondence and on the telephone. · Must demonstrate professional and ethical behavior as well as the ability to maintain strictest confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding client information at all times. · Ability to work well under pressure meeting deadlines with efficiency and consistency while maintaining a balance between good physical and mental health and the job requirements. · Such specialized training and/or certification in mental health services or related field as may be required in order to provide adjunctive services, i.e. Children Case Management Certification; BHRS, and state mandated trainings, etc. · Ability to consistently practice and promote the Sanctuary Model’s seven commitments of: non-violence, emotional intelligence, social learning, open communication, social responsibility, democracy, and growth/change. · Exhibit ability to effectively organize and plan field-work schedule to best service and maximize the needs of clients, i.e. arranging home based meetings, agency meetings, care coordinator meetings. · Current Oklahoma Operators Driver's License and a good driving record acceptable to the insurance company insuring the agency vehicles. Must provide own transportation. EXAMPLE OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide targeted support services (behavior management, daily living skills, social skills); linkage with community supports; referral to local needed services; advocacy; service coordination; and follow-up on behalf of client and their family who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioral challenges that are significantly interfering with their success at school, home, work or in the community. To provide services consistent with the Sanctuary Model. Provide basic social skills training in such areas as: anger management, feelings identification, positive interpersonal communication, impulse/self-control, healthy relationships, and other related coping skills, using a best-practice curriculum. Responsible for submitting accurate and timely monthly and quarterly service numbers as required/requested. Responsible for providing direct/indirect case management and/or rehab. services to maintain minimum agency productivity requirement of 22.5 billable service hours per week. Be able to engage the client in an emotionally intelligent manner so as to enhance positive rapport and facilitate future positive interactions. To help de-escalate clients who are agitated, anxious, angry, or in other vulnerable emotional states. Manage a crisis involving a client, including a threat of suicide or harm to others. To provide non-diagnostic interview with the client and his/her family to assess service needs. To work with children in their homes, schools and communities while incorporating the entire family and supports in the treatment program, with a focus on their strengths as well as the child’s age, developmental level, and cultural heritage. Monitor and evaluate services provided to the families. Contact families as needed to monitor progress and inquire about new needs; Complete flex-fund requests when necessary. Contact referred families and the referral source for screening and notify providers of care team meeting dates. Provide the data entry clerk with new family team lists and provide clerk with approved referrals. Responsible for teaching about and implementing regular community meetings and safety plans with client(s) as part of commitment to the Sanctuary Model of client care. Decrease of inpatient stay through alternative service planning and coordination of follow-up referrals. Provide targeted and continuous follow-up to appropriate, least restrictive and least intrusive services. Initiating services through a non-diagnostic interview, completing a strengths/needs assessment, and developing a service plan with the client and his/her family to assess service needs. Coordinating services between agencies and developing cooperative working relationships with agencies serving children and families. Provide immediate crisis intervention on a 24-hour basis. Maintain close communication with immediate supervisor and other clinical or administrative staff to assure the highest quality services are delivered to the person served and his/her family. Be responsible for seeing that all services provided to any client to whom he/she is assigned will be properly charted and reported within agency standard timelines. (48 hours after providing services). Support and promote a service environment for individuals in need of behavioral health and/or co-occurring services that is trauma-informed, recovery focused, welcoming, andattentive to the needs of individuals who may have experienced trauma in their lives. Perform a basic screening to determine whether COD might exist and can refer the consumer for a formal diagnostic assessment for co-occurring disorders. Refer a client to the appropriate mental health or substance abuse treatment facility when needed, and follow up to ensure the client receives needed care. Have knowledge of psychotropic medications and their actions. Attend weekly staff meetings consistently as well as other departmental, clinical, or agency meetings when scheduled. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Physical Requirements: Must be able to move from location to location, bending, stooping, lifting 25 pounds, communicate clearly, prepare written communications, present information to other employees, process complex information within established procedures/programs, enter data to various programs. HIPAA: This position is permitted to locate information necessary to follow through with client care or provide authorization for release of information outside agency. Information should be requested from medical record staff initially or WITH authorization from administration, retrieve necessary information without supervision. Safety-Sensitive: Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma has designated this position as “safety-sensitive.” Employees who work in positions classified as “safety-sensitive” can be disciplined if they test positive for marijuana or its metabolites. Possession or use of medical marijuana while at work or during the hours of employment regardless of whether the employee has a valid Oklahoma medical marijuana license, is still strictly prohibited. REPORTS TO: Program Manager HOURS: Full time, 40 hours per week. SUPERVISES: None This position has a weekly productivity requirement of 22.5 hours.
