Please note: The Department of Child Support Services is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill one full-time monolingual (English), and one full-time fluent bilingual (English/Spanish) Legal Processor I positions. The fluent bilingual position requires English and Spanish language proficiency in reading, writing, and conversation.
As Legal Processor Is, you will be responsible for greeting, assisting, and directing case participants to the appropriate staff. You will provide guidance on the procedures and processes for inquiries on establishing and enforcing court orders. Additional responsibilities include:
**Bilingual Premium Fluent bilingual premium pay is an additional $1.50 per hour on top of the hourly pay rate. Fluent bilingual positions require English and Spanish language proficiency in reading, writing, and conversation. To be considered for bilingual assignments, applicants must indicate their ability level on their application and in their response to the required supplemental questionnaire. A bilingual examination will be conducted prior to employment to confirm level of skill. Bilingual premium pay begins after completion of the training period and upon the assignment of a bilingual caseload. The employment list established from this recruitment may also fill other full-time, part-time, and extra-help monolingual (English) or bilingual (English/Spanish) positions that may occur during the active status of the employment list. Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Education: Any combination of education and work experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed herein. Normally, one year of clerical work experience in an office providing substantial customer service would provide this opportunity.
Special Skill Requirement: The ability to type at a corrected speed of 45 words per minute may be required for some assignments.
Background Requirements: Applicants for some assignments must successfully complete a thorough background investigation.
License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.

As Legal Processor Is, you will be responsible for greeting, assisting, and directing case participants to the appropriate staff. You will provide guidance on the procedures and processes for inquiries on establishing and enforcing court orders. Additional responsibilities include:
- Explaining procedures, processes, and general information clearly and accurately
- Maintaining a calm, professional, and positive demeanor when responding to challenging or emotional situations
- Processing and maintaining legal and administrative documents with accuracy and attention to detail
- Updating participants demographics
- Working independently with a variety of legal documents
- Processing payments, housing verifications, and incoming, outgoing, and returned mail
- Calling participants for early intervention reminders
- Exceptional customer service skills, both in person and over the phone
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments with competing deadlines
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as a member of a team
- The ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform a variety of assignments as needed
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information
