What You’ll Do For Our Patients Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants to manage patient care, organization, and communication. Exercise professional judgment to provide health‑care services that may include applying X‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients across all age groups. Job Description Summary The Radiologic Technologist works with providers and assistants to examine and treat patients at Inova‑GoHealth Urgent Care. The RT performs technical procedures, applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, analyzes patient X‑rays, reports results, and provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the centers. In a collaborative manner, the RT supports providers, assistants, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. Job Requirements Education High School Diploma required. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Work Experience Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Required Licenses / Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required (if applicable). Essential Functions Perform X‑ray services for patients under provider direction, ensuring correct patient positioning and safety. Prepare patients for examination, conduct interviews, verify patient information, and obtain vital signs. Conduct point‑of‑care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide results to providers. Maintain and document medical records, scan charts to patients’ files, and ensure proper storage of patient data. Perform daily controls and calibration of equipment, maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot equipment and perform preventive maintenance. Collaborate with ordering providers to determine appropriate procedures and views for accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations and help keep the center running smoothly. Explain procedures to patients, ensure comfort and safety, and answer questions. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles to minimize exposure. Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems or logbooks. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment, safety hazards, and routine maintenance. Skills Proper patient positioning for X‑ray procedures. Identification and notification of equipment problems. Compliance with infection control and radiological safety procedures.
