Sr. Technologist - MRI

Department/Unit: Magnetic Resonance Imag Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $71,612.39 - $110,999.20 (Salary commensurate with experience) Job Description: The Medical Imaging Technologist, under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Section Head, performs technical procedures and assists in the clinical evaluation and care of patients. The technologist utilizes their specific modality to create diagnostic images and ensure a safe, positive patient experience. In radiation-producing modalities, they practice and enforce radiation safety measures as per New York State Department of Health code part 16. Technologists support teaching and continuous learning as technology evolves. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain competent imaging skills in practicing modality/s. Assume charge tech responsibility when assigned. Precept new MITs and train technologists in modality; complete preceptor course if no experience. Foster a professional, progressive, and positive imaging department environment. Practice in compliance with hospital/department policies and state/agency standards. Assist physicians in procedures within their assigned area. Provide a safe, positive experience for patients. Take calls if applicable. Mentor and precept new staff and students. Support accreditation maintenance efforts. Enter patient data accurately into computer systems. QA images and patient information before sending to PACS. Provide patient care appropriate to age and characteristics. Obtain peripheral IV access and inject contrast when required. Qualifications: High School Diploma/G.E.D. required. Graduate of an approved two-year AMA Radiologic Technology School required. 4-5 years’ experience required. NYS DOH Diagnostic license and/or eligibility upon hire required. ARRT registration and advanced certification in modality upon hire required. Physical Demands: Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and other physical activities as detailed.
