Firmware Software Engineer

Salary: $87,000 - 92,000 per year Requirements: We require a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline. We look for knowledge of computer architectures, networking, databases, and operating systems. We expect strong organization and interpersonal abilities, along with a clear commitment to excellent customer service. We require experience with C or another embedded language, as well as C# or another .NET language. We look for strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability. We need a solid technical background in automation and computers. We require a sound understanding of the full software development lifecycle. We require at least 1 year of circuit board design experience. We require 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience. We look for experience using GitLab or GitHub. Preferred qualifications include the ability to read and design higher-level circuits. Preferred qualifications include staying current with new advances in electrical engineering. Preferred qualifications include strong familiarity with electrical and circuit board design software, ideally Eagle CAD, and manufacturing processes. Responsibilities: We design electrical systems, including circuit board layouts and system wiring requirements. We develop software and firmware to meet specifications set by the development team. We provide customer support and technical assistance. We help create training materials and project documentation as needed. We support our manufacturing team with product development and testing. We train new electrical assembly technicians. We may also perform some production work. We code, test, integrate, and document software solutions based on project needs. We support embedded controls development projects and system integration work for forensic imaging systems. We maintain and add features to embedded C projects using Microchip microcontrollers. We maintain and add features to C# projects using Visual Studio. We troubleshoot circuit boards when required. We draw schematics and route PCBs as needed. We investigate and resolve software and firmware issues in our products.
