Senior Cost AccountantWe are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. In this role, you will partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Planning, and Commercial leadership to provide accurate costing, inventory accounting, and margin analysis across the Filson and Shinola brand portfolio. You will own key cost accounting processes including standard costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and reporting that support strategic business decisions and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex financial and operational challenges, and brings strong experience within manufacturing, retail, or consumer goods industries.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and update standard cost models for finished goods, raw materials, and packaging across all product linesLead the annual standard cost roll process in partnership with Operations, Procurement, and Planning teamsPerform cost build-ups for new product introductions (NPI) and cost change analyses for existing SKUsEnsure accurate classification and allocation of direct materials, labor, and manufacturing overheadOwn month-end close activities related to inventory and cost of goods sold, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accrualsMonitor inventory valuation across finished goods, work-in-process (WIP), and raw materials; investigate and resolve discrepanciesConduct excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory reserve analysis and provide recommendations to leadershipPartner with warehouse and operations teams to investigate cycle count variances and support physical inventory processesAnalyze purchase price variance (PPV), material usage variance, labor efficiency variance, and overhead absorption variancePrepare and distribute monthly cost and margin reporting packages for Finance leadership and business stakeholdersIdentify cost trends and provide actionable insights to support operational efficiencies and cost reduction initiativesSupport gross margin bridge analysis by product, channel, and brandCollaborate with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting activities related to COGS, inventory, and gross marginServe as the Finance point of contact for Supply Chain, Operations, and Sourcing on cost-related inquiriesSupport product commercialization efforts by modeling cost scenarios for new products, packaging updates, and supplier changesPartner with Finance and cross-functional teams on ERP enhancements, system implementations, and process improvement initiativesEnsure cost accounting policies and procedures are compliant with U.S. GAAP and internal control standardsSupport internal and external audits related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and cost accounting processesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required5+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably within consumer products, manufacturing, retail, or supply chain environmentsStrong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost of goods sold under U.S. GAAPExperience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platformsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret large data setsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholdersCPA, CMA, or progress toward certification preferredExperience supporting multi-brand or multi-channel consumer products organizations preferredFamiliarity with international supply chains, import costs, and duty/tariff accounting preferredExperience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker preferredPrior ERP implementation or system migration experience preferredNote: This job description is not meant to be all-inclusive.
