Purchasing ManagerAs Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods, services, and will be responsible for managing vendor relationships. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals, and find more profitable suppliers.Duties and responsibilities include collaborating with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions. You will make purchasing decisions and bring innovative ideas for continual process improvement. You will assess current material availability, prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment, and review purchase orders for accuracy and completeness while running MRP.You will prepare and present market conditions and merchandise cost reports, draft, explain, and implement instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management, and evaluate and approve conditions for issuing and awarding bids. You will act as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers, resolve grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers, and direct purchasing reps to maintain the desired efficiency and quantity of vendor relations.Additionally, you will maintain and/or implement purchasing and recordkeeping systems, coordinate removal or disposal of surplus materials, maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and equipment, and develop annual budget and manage operations cost. You will communicate with operations manager and HR recruiter for staffing needs, handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy, and maintain employee attendance and vacation records accurately and on time.You will maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, direct and lead team to ensure on time delivery of components, and provide effective leadership and guidance that encourages teamwork operation processes, continuous improvement, and employee empowerment. You will perform other duties as assigned.Requirements include a bachelor's degree in a related field preferred and at least five years of experience in a purchasing manager or procurement manager role. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others, ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate, understanding of business and management principles, thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company, critical thinking, coordination, active learning, learning strategies, time management, operation monitoring, operation and control, complex problem solving, quality control analysis, language skills, mathematical skills, problem solving ability, and basic use of computers and email, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and prior ERP experience preferred.Working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM with a one-hour lunch.Working conditions/physical demands of the job include an office environment with long periods of sitting, the noise level is usually moderate, and the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms, and must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. In a warehouse/productive environment, the noise level is usually moderate to loud, including the sounds of forklifts and tools, work is generally performed near moving mechanical parts, and you will be exposed to chemicals known to cause health issues.
